Ready, Set, Register! TCW 2024 is Open and Spots Are Filling Fast!

The 13th annual Touring Career Workshop (TCW) will be held Tuesday, November 12, 4 p.m., at the Soundcheck Annex in Nashville. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to delve into essential topics such as mental, physical, and fiscal health, work/life balance, crafting a solid business plan, and securing that coveted gig through engaging breakout sessions.

Registration for the free event can be accessed by logging onto the TCW website: www.touringcareerworkshop.com/workshop.

What was co-created by Chris Lisle, owner of concert event design and production management firm CLLD (Keith Urban, Lollapalooza, Nashville New Year’s Eve, among others) and industry professional Erik Parker as a way to educate, mentor, and provide access to experts and professional resources has grown into the country’s largest gathering of touring professionals and those interested in careers in the industry.

“This year’s theme – RESET – is appropriate as we dive into where we are as an industry and what the future looks like as these post-COVID years have been a rollercoaster in a lot of ways,” said Lisle. “With a storied keynote speaker and impactful breakout sessions, this year’s event is shaping up to be our best yet.”

Also helping make this the best year yet is the addition of the Reboot and Refresh: Career Essentials Lab, pre-event sessions from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., that will feature resume consultation with Stephanie Hawkins, customized spending plans with Rachael Bronstein, and headshots with photographer Rachel Deeb, all for a nominal fee.

We are also stoked to announce our Keynote Speaker- Marty Hom! For over 40 years, veteran tour manager Marty Hom, has built an impressive career working with iconic acts such as Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Lionel Richie, Beyoncé, and Janet Jackson, among others. “There are very few people in the live entertainment industry who have amassed a resume like Marty’s,” said Chris Lisle, founder of Touring Career Workshop. “He will offer great insight into where the industry has been and, more importantly, where it’s going, along with the lesson of longevity.” Marty's extensive experience in the live events world, managing some of the biggest names in music, positions him as a leader whose knowledge of the industry’s evolution will be invaluable for attendees. His keynote promises to shed light on both the challenges and opportunities that have shaped his long-standing career and will provide crucial takeaways for professionals navigating the fast-paced and ever-changing entertainment landscape.

TCW's breakout sessions are essential to the workshop experience, offering participants an in-depth look into key topics that shape live events and the touring industry. This year, 12 sessions and panels will cover a wide range of subjects, including Vibe Check: Mastering the Communication Connection, Setting Up Your Business, Vendor Employment, and Do You Really Want to Tour? Exploring Options in Festivals and Live Events, among others. For a complete list of breakout sessions at this year’s TCW, please log onto: www.touringcareerworkshop.com/workshop.

The fall workshop is just one part of our mission, but it truly represents one of the most significant, enlightening and fun ways we make a difference for professionals in our industry. Touring Career Workshop (TCW), is a 501c3, that offers human resources for live event and touring professionals year round. Created in 2011 by industry professionals for industry professionals to educate and mentor our colleagues by providing access to experts on topics including health insurance, financial planning, mental and physical health self-care, home ownership, and work/life balance. The annual workshop event also includes networking opportunities with top vendors. TCW’s All Access Program offers on a year-round basis four free, and totally confidential, counseling sessions with pre-approved therapists. The program is also now available to all artists, bands, crews, and staffs at many of the largest music festivals in the country as All Access On Site, including Lollapalooza, Faster Horses, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Music Festival, CMA Music Festival, and sporting events like the PGA Simmons Open. In a nutshell, we’re here to help those behind the scenes thrive, both on and off the road. www.touringcareerworkshop.com.
