There is much more to this crazy business than the technical side of our career paths. The lifestyle of a touring person brings with it an amazing amount of adventures, but also a lot of challenges as well. This panel will discuss several key topics, including dealing with stress and pressure, keeping fit while on the road, and making sure you are at your best.

John Schirmer is the current General Manger for concert event production company DCR Nashville. For the last 22 years John has cultivated his career by touring the world as a FOH Engineer, Production Manager and Tour Manager while also working in the studio as a Grammy nominated producer, engineer and mixer.
In 2013 John retired from the road and the studio and took a job as General Manger for then Morris Light and Sound where he called upon the business skills that he garnered while on the road to develop a successful executive career in the live entertainment business. Before taking his current position at DCR Nashville, John had the great pleasure of holding the title of Lead Instructor and Business Development Director of the live sound program at the Blackbird Academy.

Bill Crutchfield has more than 20 years experience as a Certified Personal Trainer and has been a competitive runner for more than 30 years. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Wellness from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and is certified by the AFAA. Recognized as one of Nashville’s elite trainers, he has owned his own gym and has worked with some of the best trainers in the business.
In 1993, Bill created the concept of tour training—becoming the first personal trainer in Nashville to hit the road with a traveling artist. Since then, he has worked with some of the biggest artists in the industry. His long list of tour training credentials include many country music artists such as the Dixie Chicks, Trace Adkins, Chris Young, Miranda Lambert and more. Bill has also trained top record producers, songwriters, business executives and celebrities.
In 2007, he founded Crutch Camp, his unique version of boot camp. His love for the outdoors and desire to help his clients feel their best has made these camps a huge success. Described as “firm, yet gentle at the same time,” his innovative programs along with his motivating personality inspire his clients to keep coming back.
When not teaching Crutch Camp, Bill devotes several days a week to one-on-one personal training and running sessions with clients desiring more individualized attention.

Stephen Navyac spent more than two decades in the music business as a tour manager, sound engineer and working in artist management, artist development and sponsorship marketing. After serving as a tour manager for acts including Faith No More, Lucinda Williams, The Mavericks, Keith Urban and Sara Evans, Stephen decided it was time to follow his passion and transition into a career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He began pursuing his master’s degree while still on the road, and today he is an LMFT certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy and EMDR, providing counseling for individuals and couples.
Having experienced the stress and challenges of life on the road Stephen has insights that make him uniquely qualified to help touring professionals (and their families) successfully negotiate difficult seasons of life.
Stephen has a heart for those who have experienced difficult times and are dealing with trauma, stress, addiction, depression, etc. Whether these issues stem from a client’s upbringing or their current life situation, Stephen draws on his training and life experience to get to what is underneath these issues.
Stephen is an avid reader and DIYer. He and his wife Susanna are also very plugged into their Hillsboro Village neighborhood and the local community. Having been blessed to work with quality artists and touring staff over the years, he now enjoys life off the road, helping others navigate those careers’ unique challenges.
