It’s often very disappointing to put all of your energy into creating an experience that gives so many people happiness and pleasure to come home and realize you’ve lost a large portion of your earnings to taxes. We can all agree that many of the things our tax dollars go to enhance are important but Joy is back to talk to us about ways in which we can save as much of our dollars as possible using the programs and benefits available to us. She’ll discuss many write-offs available that you might not have known about and ways you can use your per diem in your favor.

As a trucker’s daughter, Joy was born in California and lived in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida by the time she graduated from high school. Joy moved to Nashville to attend college and earned a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration with a major in accounting from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1989. Joy is a certified public accountant and the managing partner of In The Black Accounting Services (ITBAS). ITBAS is a full-service CPA firm that specializes in providing business startup services, accounting and bookkeeping to small business: tax preparation and representation services before the IRS, state and local tax authorities to individuals and small businesses. The firm’s clientele now includes businesses and individuals in 37 states throughout the US and Australia.

Previously, Joy worked as a federal agent with the U.S. Treasury, IRS Criminal Investigation Division for almost ten years. In addition to her duties conducting federal tax fraud investigations, conducting surveillance, executing federal search and arrest warrants, Joy also worked on Presidential protection details for the 1992 and 1996 Presidential campaigns. She currently resides in Mount Juliet, Tennessee with her husband, Johnny.
